Chippa United striker Augustine Kwem says they’ve been put the disappointment after losing the Nedbank Cup final behind them and the team are now focussed on saving the team in the DStv Premiership.
Kwem was speaking ahead of their mid-week crunch game against bottom-of-the-log Black Leopards, a game 15th-placed Chippa want to win to move out of the bottom two places.
Chippa lost 1-0 in Saturdays’ Nedbank Cup final, but Kwem says despite the loss, the mood in the camp is okay.
“I think the mood is it’s quite okay,” Kwem told the club’s media department.
“Even though we coming back from the loss in the final, but we have to know that also the league is very important to us. So even the coach made us put that behind us.”
“So from the last training session, the mood is okay, very much okay. The game against Leopards, it’s very important, it’s more important even. Because we are together in the relegation battle, so it’s a six pointer, there is no chance for a draw in that game, so we just need to win. We just need to win.”
Kwem says that going forward, every game is a cup final for them.
“It’s just more of the same because we still have Tshakhuma to play also, we still have Celtic to play which is not too far above us. So the only team far above us, it’s SuperSport.”
“So the games the last four games are too important for us. But the good thing the coach is saying is we taking it one game at a time and taking each game as a Cup final,” the Nigerian-born forward continued.
“So we just have to give our all and hopefully our good run of form in the league, which is seven points in three games will continue and then we’ll see the team out of this relegation battle. And then it can be a great achievement for us the season, playing in the cup final and also saving the team.”
