Latest On Chiefs Vs CT City Clash

While there has been no official statement from the Premier Soccer League, iDiski Times has learned that the game between Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City will not be played today.

Kaizer Chiefs had announced on Friday that they are “unable to host Cape Town City” on Saturday after a Covid-19 outbreak at Naturena found 31 positive cases among the club’s personnel.

This publication learned on Friday that 18 players and the entire technical team of Chiefs have been ruled out among the 31 that tested positive this week.

Chiefs are believed to only have nine players at their disposal, three of which are goalkeepers.

Contrary to reports on Saturday that a crew from SuperSport will be at FNB Stadium, iDiski Times understands that this is not the case.

As the event organiser, Chiefs has informed the Stadium Management SA (SMSA) that there’s no game today. So the gates are closed.

Meanwhile, Cape Town City are currently preparing for the game as per usual in the absence of any official word from the PSL.

“We are in JHB and will be at the stadium as per normal,” the club’s media department told iDiski Times this afternoon.

The game has been scheduled to kick-off at 18:30 today but it seems there will be no football at FNB Stadium.

In the absence of an official statement from the PSL, the matter is likely to be decided by the DC, who will refer to the below rules of the NSL handbook.
