Chippa United head coach Kurt Lentjies says he is thrilled by the opportunity to work with experienced coaches while assisting the Coastal United team at the DStv Compact Cup.
Lentjies is getting the opportunity to work alongside Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker who is the head coach of the Coastal United, while Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler is also part of the technical team as advisor.
Costal United beat Dinaledi 3-0 in the semi-finals on Saturday to set up a final against Warriors.
When asked by iDiski Times journalist Rob Delport about the opportunity to work with Barker and Tinkler, the rookie coach says it’s been a blessing in disguise for him personally.
“No, definitely,” Lentjies said at the post match presser.
“I mean, when they told me that I’m selected, I actually got goosebumps and obviously got excited because I mean, for me, who just took the job at Chippa for the past two months, it’s actually a blessing in disguise.
“Because I just came in with an open mind just to learn from Coach Eric and Coach Steve. It was perfect.
“So for me, I’m just sitting back learning, watching them. So I’m enjoying this experience.
“I’m looking forward to next week, obviously going back to work with my team, but looking forward to next week (the final) as well.”
