Royal AM coach John Maduka was disappointed following his side’s draw in the Durban Derby on Saturday afternoon.
AM shared the spoils in a goalless draw with AmaZulu at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Thwihli-Thwahla found the going frustrating against Usuthu and Maduka was not pleased with his team’s attacking performance, as they struggled to impose themselves on Benni McCarthy’s team.
“Look, it is not us today, it is not us I think defensively, we did very well, we managed to keep the cleansheet, but from the midfield going forward, I think we were not good enough,” Maduka said.
“So many players, I think, were not on today and when you get 3, 4, 5 and 6 players who are not on their offer on that particular day, it’s difficult for you to win the game.
“So exactly that happened today. Every time when we were in possession, we could not even make four or five passes together.
“In the final third not sharp, no runs, no going forward. And again, no shorts at goal. How do you score if you can’t take that shot at goal, so it was unlike us.
“We are a team that always want to go forward, But today We didn’t do that. But defensively, we did so well, we managed to defend well and that’s why we managed to get the point.”
