Royal AM coach John Maduka responded to a question how he outsmarted Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter in his side’s 4-1 thrashing of the favoured home side.
Royal AM shocked Chiefs on Saturday, running away with a 4-1 victory from FNB Stadium.
Following the clear victory, Maduka was asked whether he felt he won the battle on the sidelines and outsmarted Baxter in the tactical setup.
“At the end of the day you see, both teams had a different approach, we had our own different approach,” he told reporters.
“Of course, when we planned we knew that Chiefs have been playing well, they create so many chances and we knew that is going to be the same.
“So our plan was more to defend well. We knew that if we defend well, if we have a balance between the back and going forward, we’d be able to achieve our goal that is winning the game and exactly that happened in the end of the night.
“We did manage to defend well, especially in the second half. In the first half, we had problems here and there, that’s why they created so many chances but in the second half we were ok, we were solid.
“It gave us that advantage to score goals.”
