Maema – It’s Motivation Going Into The Next One

Neo Maema says that while Mamelodi Sundowns were not happy to get a draw in their last game, there was positives on offence that they can build on in this weekend’s DStv Premiership match against Sekhukhune United.

Maema personally had a good game against SuperSport on Wednesday, scoring a goal and getting an assist in the 2-2 draw.

But the former Bloemfontein Celtic player says they were disappointed to only get a draw, and are looking to bounce back when they host Sekhukhune.

“I think, coming into the game, I think we prepared very well, especially in the first half, we were on to them,” Maema told the club’s media department.

“Because we planned to get behind their defence, and the spaces in front of the defence, we used it very well. And I’m just said glad that we prepared well going into the game. And although not getting so much time before the game, because we played like back to back, and we only get like two days, but I’m happy that really stuck in especially in the first half, and we got a goal in the first half.

“It’s not the result that we wanted. But then I’m just happy for my performance and going to the next one, I think as a team, we will do better, although we don’t have time to prepare, but then offensively, we did very well, coming from from from a goalless draw against Cape Town City, and finally to get two goals.

“I think it’s motivation going to the next one. I think the most important thing is to rest, your recovery process. I think that’s the most important thing.

“And going to that game, we already started with the analysis of Sekhukhune, we know that what we are going to face and luckily for us we playing at home, that’s a major thing, we don’t have to travel. So it’s more zoning in and getting as much rest as possible so we can be fresh go into the game.

“I think also from Sekhukhune, I think they had a longer period of rest so we expect them to come strong because they motivated because they won their last game against Royal AM, so it comes with the motivation, also playing a big club like Mamelodi Sundowns.

“So it’s going to be a tough battle. We know what to expect. And we just have to apply ourselves accordingly so we can get the maximum points come weekend.”
