Makgopa – I Like Zlatan

New Bafana Bafana star Evidence Makgopa has insisted there is no player in South Africa who motivates him much, but revealed which international star he idolises.

The DStv Premiership Young Player of the Season made his mark for Bafana, when he scored a brace on debut in Thursday’s 3-2 win over Uganda.

Speaking to Lethabo Kganyago in Edition 20 of iDiski Times, Makgopa says that he enjoys playing for Baroka, and thinks the only time he will leave is to go to a foreign club.

Magopa played in 28 league games this season for Baroka, scoring seven times.

“I like playing for Baroka and I think the only time I would leave is if I move abroad,” Makgopa said.

“I think from Baroka I want to go abroad.”

The 21-year-old also says that when it comes to role models, there aren’t any players locally to motivate him, but there are a few international footballers, especially Swedish star Ibrahimovic.

“I admire a lot of international players. I don’t think there is anyone in Mzansi who motivates me that much,” Makgopa continued.

“I am for real. And internationally you know everyone is interested in (Lionel) Messi ) and (Cristiano) Ronaldo, but I like Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“I think he has some things I like somehow, like his height you know. Messi is a short guy, so I look at the tall guys and try to learn from them.”
