Despite Chippa United coming back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Swallows on the weekend, their Head Coach Dan Malesela was not a happy man after the game.
Swallows had taken an early double lead through Kgaogelo Sekgota and Ruzaigh Gamildien, both scored in the opening ten minutes.
Malesela was not happy with how his team defended in the opening minutes, and said his players made ‘amateurish’ mistakes.
Fortunately Chippa fought back through second half goals by Anthony Laffor, his second in as many games, and Augustine Kwem.
Malesela says he felt like his team were already thinking about the break, and going forward they need to prioritise properly.
“it’s mistakes that we made. And it’s bad defending as well, because people are waiting for the ball to come to them. I mean, the ball is played back, and then we wait, we want to wait for the ball to come to us. I mean, how amateurish is that?”
“You know, I don’t like hammering my players, you know, I hate that because, but there are some things that are just not on.”
“I think maybe people are already looking ahead to to the long break, and people are looking ahead to go into the national teams and stuff like that. Maybe that’s the case? We saving ourselves for what? When the team is in a dire position here, we must prioritize properly and all the energy that is required, should be channelled to this match.”
