Chippa United Head Coach Dan Malesela says considering how many goals Cape Town City have scored against other teams this DStv Premiership season, he will take the goalless draw they played to on Wednesday.
Malesela said City had a few good chances in the first half, but luck was on Chippa’s side and they rode the wave, and he was pleased with the performance overall.
He also says he learnt a few things from the game, and now has a better idea of the depth of his squad.
“Ja, difficult because as you can see there’s a lot of fatigue from a number of players but there’s a lot of character also, from a lot of our players and, you know lessons learned here is that we need to look at what we have as a squad, that’s number one, and see if we’ve got enough reserves,” Malesela said after the game.
“Also you know, it teaches me as a person to say one needs to have trust in certain players, because you put them in and they perform. What can you say, what can you do, we live with these things and we learn every day, but I’m happy with the way we’re handling ourselves.”
“You get happy, you play against a Cape Town City that is scoring almost every day against other clubs and they come here, they can’t score. Maybe in the beginning of the first half they probably could have scored easily, but luck was on our side as well.”
“I think luck gets to people if they’re doing things right, they’re trying to do things right, and that’s what we were doing. But I’m happy with with a point, not so disappointed, it’s not happiness so much.”
