Malesela Says Gallants Will Treat Santos Game With Respect

Marumo Gallants coach Dan Malesela says they will treat their Nedbank Cup round of 32 match against ABC Motsepe side Santos like they would any other match.

The two clubs meet at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday at 3pm.

Gallants are the DStv Premiership club, but they are a relatively new franchise, while Santos, a former Premiership league winner, are club with a rich history. But they were relegated from the top flight in 2012, and five years later they found themselves relegated from the National First Division.

Malesela say he has a bit of information about how Santos plays and insisted the team will be prepared for any surprises.

“Ja, look it’s like any other match,” Malesela told the club’s media department.

“We’ll treat it with respect, I’ve just got a little bit of an insight as to how Santos plays, they may be different, but you never know.

“We’ll try and handle it with the utmost respect and see what happens in the match and make adjustments where they there is a need.

Malesela says though it is important that Gallants take the initiative from the opening whistle.

“No, no, no, no, no, no, we must take initiatives in our matches. We have to to direct from the beginning.

“But like I said, we will always see what happens in the match, how they behave, and the players know that very well and make necessary adjustments as and when they are required.”
