Manousakis Bids Farewell To City

Former Cape Town City Assistant Coach Vasili Manousakis has bid farewell to the club, as he embarks on a new journey in his football career.

Manousakis was appointed Assistant to Benni McCarthy at City at the end of 2017, when Ian Taylor left the club to go to China.

Prior to that he had been coach of the club’s newly-formed under-19 team, working with another former Bafana Bafana player Brent Carelse.

Manousakis remained Assistant at City after McCarthy’s exit from the club, working alongside current Head Coach Jan Olde Riekerink.

While it hasn’t officially been announced yet, it is an open secret that Manousakis is set to join McCarthy at Amazulu.

“Thank-you to the Chairman for the opportunities & the wonderful journey!” Manousakis wrote on his Instagram page.

“A special thanks to all the staff & amazing fans for all your support.”

“Most importantly, thank you to all the players for laughs, the learnings & the memories! Until we meet again.”

City have brought in former Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena to replace Manousakis.
