Maritzburg New Signings Ready For SuperSport

Maritzburg United’s new signings Lucky Baloyi and Nicholus Lukhubeni say they are looking forward to upsetting SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership clash on Tuesday.

The Team of Choice lost 1-0 to Matsatsantsa after a late goal from Iqraam Rayners in their Nedbank Cup round of 32 match at the Harry Gwala Stadium last Wednesday evening.

However, Baloyi who joined the Kwazulu-Natal outfit after being released by Royal AM ahead of the second round of the season, is confident his side will do better this time around.

“For us as players, it’s disappointing, especially losing against SuperSport in the Nedbank Cup. Now we’re looking forward to the league, where we really need points,” he told club’s media department.

“So the preparations are going well, and we’re preparing well, so we’re eagerly awaiting the game. And the chances that we’re going to get, we will use them so that we can get three points at the end of the day.

“I’m not really sure how SuperSport will look like, but us we are focusing on ourselves as Maritzburg, and then the common goal that we want is just to win the game because of it will be more disappointing to lose two games against one team in a few days, and of course, from our side, the most important thing that we want is three points.

“What I want to see is to achieve with the team because the position that we’re in is not good. So, we need to push so that we can get maximum points so that we can go up from where we are.”

Meanwhile, Lukhubeni believes that having been pushed at training by coach Ernst Middendorp could help themselves to avoid slipping up in Pretoria.

“I think SuperSport will not change how they played, so it’s on us how we prepare ourselves,” Lukhubeni said.

“We just have to go there prepared as we were preparing all along and as we are playing away, it motivates us to work hard and follow the coach’s instructions as he helped us to rectify our mistakes.”
