Maritzburg Respond To Sale Speculation
Maritzburg United have issued a statement, amidst speculation that the DStv Premiership club is on the market.
Over the past few months there have been numerous reports suggesting that the Team of Choice would sell their franchise, and the club has now issued a statement, stating it is not for sale.
“The owners of Maritzburg United Football Club have reaffirmed that the club is not for sale,” the statement on the club’s website said.
“Their stand comes in the wake of the latest inaccurate media reports that have been doing the over the weekend.
“The Team of Choice playing staff reported back for pre-season two weeks ago and preparations under head coach Ernst Middendorp and his technical team are in full swing.
“While Maritzburg have been open in the past about the financial challenges of running a professional football team without a title sponsor, this by no means equates to a desire to sell the club and there are no such plans in the pipeline.”
Chairman Farook Kadodia added: “I can categorically state that there are no negotiations underway to sell the club and that there are no plans to sell the club.
“Recent media reports claiming we are looking to sell the club are not true, or have been twisted. This has the potential to create instability and therefore we would like to make it clear that’s it’s business as usual for us – the team has already been hard at work for several weeks preparing for the 2021/22 season.”
