Maritzburg Want Bragging Rights In KZN Derby
Ahead of today’s DStv Premiership match between Maritzburg United and Golden Arrows, Ryan Rae says that it’s always good to play a KwaZulu-Natal derby as both teams look for bragging rights.
The former Highlands Park defender says that while Arrows have had a fantastic season, Ernst Middendorp’s team are feeling confident, and also have a lot to play for.
After struggling at the bottom of the table, Maritzburg have worked their way up to 13th in the league, and Rae says they want to get a result to keep climbing away from the bottom.
“We’re improving very well, the boys and technical team are very positive for the game on Wednesday, working very hard trying to fix the mistakes we’ve made in previous games and increase the goodness that we’ve been doing during the season so far,” Rae told Maritzburg’s media department.
“Of course, it’s always good to have a KZN derby, always up your game to see who has the bragging rights for for the weekend or the week game.”
“But also just the importance of getting out of where we are at the bottom of the log. We’ve done well since the beginning of the season, from where we started, and you know very excited for this Wednesday game to put our work out on the field.”
“Of course, they’re doing very, very well, always a difficult team to play against, always well structured and well coached and the guys have got good quality so always good and always difficult to play against them.”
