AmaZulu’s veteran defender Tsepo Masilela says the club are looking for all three points when they face Golden Arrows in the DSTV Premiership on Wednesday night.
The 35-year-old says the derby will be a tough encounter, but with Usuthu playing at home, a win is non-negotiable.
AmaZulu have just appointed Masilela’s former Bafana Bafana teammate Benni McCarthy as their Head Coach.
“The preparations are going well. So far so good, the guys are looking good. We are welcoming back some guys from their injuries,” Masilela told the club’s website.
“So, the competition is there. As you said it a big game, but nowadays every game is a big game.”
“It’s a home game for us. We would like to take all three points. We all know it is a derby, but like I said we are at home and we are looking forward to it and we are excited.”
“We have to give our best on Wednesday and try to return to winning ways. It has been a while since we last won a match.”
“Our last win was against Black Leopards. We need to turn things around quickly and start collecting points.”
While spectators are not allowed at DSTV Premiership games, Masilela says they are still aware the supporters are watching them, and they want to make them proud.
“Since the pandemic started fans are not allowed in the stadiums, but believe me they are always in our thoughts and in our minds.”
“When we go out on the field we are always looking to make them proud. We are doing it for them. It is not like we have forgotten about our fans.”
“I know they still support the team and I know they are still with us. We just want to promise them that we will give it our all in order to keep the smiles on their faces.”
