ABC Motsepe League side Mathaithai FC have announced they’ve appointed Benni McCarthy as new Technical Director – or is it just an April fools Joke?
The third-tier side recently made news after qualifying for the Nedbank Cup round of 16.
They were beaten 6-0 by Mamelodi Sundowns, who ended their Nedbank Cup fairytale.
On Friday, Mathaithai announced the appointment of McCarthy as Technical Director after the former Bafana Bafana striker was recently sacked by AmaZulu.
McCarthy himself enjoyed the joke and even asked when he should report for duty.
However, the fact that it’s April fools day today, makes the news a little questionable and it will probably be revealed later today that it’s all just for a little fun.
