Mathaithai FC coach Morena Lothane has said that Saturday’s match against NC Professionals in the Nedbank Cup could be a tough game.
The two teams are from ABC Motsepe Leagues, with Lothane’s side playing in the Free State, while NC ply their trade in the Northern Cape Province.
Mathaithai are looking to progress to the last 16 in the competition — and Lothane has admitted that playing their league’s peer will not be easy, but insisted his side can make it.
Coach Festy, as he is affectionately known, promoted the team to ABC Motsepe League in 2020, and he now wishes to go as far as to play with some PSL big clubs in the competition.
“The preparation has gone well, I’m happy, and I’m hoping the boys are ready for the match,” Lothane told iDiski Times ahead of the match.
“It’s a much unanticipated match I may say, it’s going to be a very tough game for both teams, there are many factors that make these encounter interesting, we are from the same level (ABC League) we might as well be equal as for strength and how we do things.
“But everyone from my side has switched on, they all know how important it is to work hard and win the game against NC Professionals FC so that we can at least meet one of the PSL teams if possible.
“The mood is right, and I’m positive that we’ll get positive results today.”
Lothane and his troops visit NC Professionals this afternoon at Tafel Lager Park Stadium, Kimberley.
