Ahead of Saturday’s MTN8 final against Mamelodi Sundowns, Cape Town City midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane tells iDiski Times how he and the team want to bring the winning feeling back to the club.
Mdantsane was also included in Hugo Broos’s provisional Bafana Bafana squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Ghana.
Speaking exclusively to iDiski Times, Mdantsane, who won the Telkom Knockout with Baroka, says he is excited to play in his first cup final at City, and hopes to help the club win it’s third trophy in five years.
“The feeling of being in this cup final, it’s every player’s dream to experience that feeling,” Mdantsane told iDiski Times.
“Also the players as well, some of the players in the team they’ve played this cup final, Coach Eric has been in the final as well, the MTN8.
“So we want to bring that feeling back, winning that silverware, it’s important for us as a team. We’ve been playing good football, so we just we need one trophy or two trophies.
“We deserve to get a trophy, although in the league we didn’t start very well, but I’m happy with how we played in these cup games, to put ourselves in the final, to put the team back on the map.
“Cape Town City, since it came to the PSL, we have been playing cup finals, we’ve been winning cups, so we want to bring that back.
“And everyone’s excited, and we just want to win this game. It’s very important for us.”
