Richards Bay remain top of the GladAfrica Championship table, but they now have a swarm of other teams knocking behind them in the South African second tier.

On Saturday JDR Stars slipped up against Platinum City Rovers, as they lost 2-1 at home. And a 2-0 victory for Polokwane City over Uthongathi, saw City go top (albeit for 24 hours) on goal difference.

Alan Freese’s Cape Town All Stars beat Cape Town Spurs 1-0 to go just one point behind the leading pack. AmaTuks also moved into striking distance as they beat Black Leopards 1-0, and are one point further behind.

With Leopards losing, Jomo Cosmos moved off the bottom spot as they played to a goalless draw with Hungry Lions, leaving Lidoda Duvha in the bottom position.

Free State Stars and Pretoria Callies draw 2-2

On Sunday, Venda Football Academy hosted Richards Bay, and victory for either team would see them go top. And it was Richards Bay who sealed a 1-0 win, though they had to wait until the 90th minute to achieve the result.

Pitso Dladla’s team now go three points clear.

Meanwhile TS Sporting and Tshakhuma played to a goalless draw.
