After winning the Nedbank Cup on Saturday, Tshakhuma Head Coach Dylan Kerr paid tribute to goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo, who he says will retire at the end of the season because of an eye injury.
TTM beat Chippa 1-0 in the final, to lift their first ever silverware as a club.
Kerr paid tribute to Mhlongo after the match, saying the goalkeeper gave a heartfelt speech to the team before the game, and
“And let me give mention to Brighton, who’s gonna have to retire at the end of the season because of his eye injury,” Kerr said after the game.
“He made a speech to the players today, which I thought, which epitomises the character and the togetherness of the team.”
“And, you know, it’s not going to go unnoticed, because it broke his heart today to stand in front of his teammates, knowing that he’s never going to play football again.”
“And he made a very, very poignant speech to the players and I think that went along with for them to perform the way they did.
