Middendorp Future At Maritzburg Uncertain

Maritzburg United head coach Ernst Middendorp says the club needs to find a way forward in the second half of the season by all means.

In the wake of their 2-0 defeat against his former club Kaizer Chiefs, it extended their winless run to 10 games and sees the languish in 13th place, two points off the drop zone.

This had led the former Amakhosi tactician to state that he would understand if management relieved him of his duties but is confident he’s still the man to lead the club to success.

“It’s a discussion with different parties and then if you discuss and you don’t have the same opinion or same direction then good, absolutely, it’s not a secret,” he said.

“It would be a disaster if you are with the club where we are and not concerned from management, owner or chairman and of course technical team.

“We don’t go celebrating at home and celebrate this performance with zero points again.

“It’s painful and definitely something that each and everybody has to be involved to find a way forward, with me or without me. I have no idea.

“I would like to continue because I see we have a good bunch of players that can be up in two, three years. With preparation time, the players will come out into the right direction.”

The German tactician has overseen 45 games for the Team of Choice in his fourth spell at the club with a record of 11 wins, 15 draws and 20 defeats.
