Mngqithi Praises Two Chiefs Stars
Mamelodi Sundowns co-head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has praised Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat for their roles in Kaizer Chiefs’ second goal against his side.
The two players combined for Amakhosi’s 2-2 equaliser, with Dolly setting up Billiat just second after coming on as a second-half substitute.
Mngqithi praised his side for the way they started the game, saying the game could’ve been “finished” in the first 45 minutes.
“I must say it was a game that we could’ve finished in the first half. We create a lot of opportunities,” he told reporters.
“We made the game look so easy, which I think had an impact on us losing focus, more especially in the dying stages of the first half when we started to have a little but more touches on the ball.
“But when we lost possession it immediately resulted in a diagonal, which (Bernard) Parker caught us (with) because initially the two strikers ran as if they were going into offside positions and Parker came in late in that goal, which was not well covered. And then the contest became life again.”
Mngqithi also revealed that he was not too happy with his side’s defending ahead of the second Chiefs goal but praised Keagan Dolly and former Masandawana star Khama Billiat for their execution.
“I must say it was very unprofessional of us to concede the second goal because it was our throw-in and from our throw-in we lost possession,” he added.
“When we lost that ball from Peter (Shalulile), they came at us and I must give credit to Keagan, I think the pass was very good.
“And Khama was at his best, on the day, in terms of finishing, I think he took it very well. It made the contest a little bit complex.”
