Mamelodi Sundowns co head coach Manqoba Mngqithi says the team is fully prepared for the hectic schedule they have on their plate for the remainder of the season.
With Sundowns competing on three fronts – leading the DStv Premiership, in the Nedbank Cup last 16, and in the group stages of the CAF Champions League – Mngqithi says that if they were to reach the finals of all tournaments they would 27 games still to play this season.
Mngqithi says it is their job as coaches to keep the team fresh focussed.
“We fully understand the load that is coming,” Mngqithi told the club’s media department
“Which is why we make the type of substitutions that we make, to try and refresh the team when we have already managed to grab the game by its neck.
“We understand very well that at this stage, we are probably minus one game out of the 27 games that we would have to play if we were to go to all the finals.
“So in the next nine days, we’re expected to play three matches, and I believe the boys have got the capacity to do anything possible to make sure that that is achieved.
“But it’s also our responsibility as coaches to make sure that you keep the team fresh and understanding that all these matches are very important.
“But I think we’ve got a very good group of players that understand the mission of what we’re really trying to achieve.”
Sundowns are back in action on Monday, when they host Chippa United in a league fixture.
