Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach, Manqoba Mngqithi, said that he did not want to expose Cape Town City after their 2-0 win over the Mother City outfit.
Goals from Lyle Lakay and Keletso Makgalwa secured victory for the Brazilians, and although the Sundowns coach felt there was room for improvement for his side, his comments about the opponent stood out.
“It would be unfair for me to expose the areas of their game that can be exposed,” Mngqithi told SuperSport straight after the match.
“They are playing very good football, it is encouraging to have another South African team playing football to the fullest, not sitting back.”
The coach also saved some praise for some of his stars, including a former Cape Town City striker that is now on their books.
“I believe Kermit (Erasmus) gave a good account of himself, Themba Zwane gave us some moments to be stable. We’ve kept a clean sheet for a third time, which is encouraging.
“One is encouraged with the work, I hope we can maintain it.”
