Mamelodi Sundowns co-head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has explained the reason behind Sifiso Ngobeni’s move to SuperSport United.
The left-back has sealed a loan deal to Matsatsantsa for the rest of the season after struggling to crack into the starting XI at the reigning Dstv Premiership champions team.
Ngobeni’s has found it tough to feature for Masandawana since his move from Bloemfontein Celtic and will hope to feature more regularly in the second half of 2021/22.
“We felt for his development pathway that it was important that he gets some game time because in the first round of the season, he did not get as many matches and that concerns us because we believe he’s got a lot to give the club,” Mngqithi told reporters.
“But the expectations of the club at times can be very difficult and when you consider in that list of players that he’s competing with, he’s got Lyle Lakay, Divine Lunga and Aubrey Modiba – then it becomes difficult for a youngster like him to crack it.
“But we do believe he has a very bright future, and he will come back and help us – maybe also working with Kaitano [Tembo] will toughen him up a bit. And he will come back ready to compete and fight for his place.”
The 24-year-old defender, who joined the Tshwane giants from Celtic at the start of the season, has only made two league appearances for the club.
