Rulani Mokwena says Mamelodi Sundowns are well prepared for today’s DStv Premiership game against Baroka.
The undefeated log leaders host tenth-placed Baroka at Loftus Stadium at 5pm.
The Co-Head Coach says they are very proud of the efforts of their team, and while they are undefeated, they are still far from being at their best.
“Ja, preparations have gone well, because it’s important to get confidence and we get in the results with the performances,” Mokwena said in the build up to this game.
“And we sit in a position where we are satisfied with how we are playing, we know we can play better, but it gives us confidence to keep working on certain elements of our game and improving our schemes so that we can improve the overall performance of the team, because we believe that the performances are always an indicator for results.”
“So, in this moment, we are very proud of the players and proud of the efforts of the group. And the most important thing now is also just the psychological aspects of maintaining the humility, maintaining the profile of the team, which relates to working even harder, and doing the best that we can to make sure that we stay in the space that we are in and improve certain elements of our game.”
“So that’s what we’ve been focusing on, on improving our schemes, in attack, in defence, so that we can improve the overall tactical profile of the group, but also at the same time, from a psychological perspective to drum in the fact that we take each game as it comes.”
“And every game is very important for us. Because that’s that’s the responsibility that we carry as Mamelodi Sundowns.”
“Ja, I think Baroka has been very interesting to analyze, we’ve gone into the games, the Nedbank Cup game against Cape Town Sputs, we’ve gone into Chiefs, we’ve gone to Cape Town City, those are the recent last three matches, but we’ve also gone into the game that we played against them, which was on the ninth of Jan, which is not so far off, about four weeks, five weeks ago.”
“And they are doing some very good work because the identity of the team is very clear. Structurally, they they have a system in place, which you can very clearly pick out in a 4231 formation.”
