AmaZulu goalkeeper Veli Mothwa says they are ready to welcome Mamelodi Sundowns to the ‘slaughterhouse’ when the two teams meet at Kings Park Stadium today.
It’s a battle between the top two teams in the DStv Premiership, as Benni McCarthy has taken AmaZulu up to second-place, six points behind leaders Sundowns.
Mothwa, who has been superb since joining Usuthu from Chippa United, says they are looking to use their home ground advantage against Sundowns.
“Our home ground advantage, we’re working hard every time on our home ground,” Mothwa told AmaZulu media.
“So a game is a game, home or away, we take everything serious. But yeah, we call it the slaughterhouse these days. So we have to slaughter each and everyone who comes here but to slaughter. We don’t slaughter by words, we slaughter with action.”
AmaZulu have surprised many people with their ambitions this seasons, including their supporters and some of the players.
“I think for supporters and a few players who have been with AmaZulu, I think now they say it’s a good thing, because even us who just came into AmaZulu, we’re not used to this position.”
“But now everything it’s fine, and the mood it’s up there, and everyone wants to play. So we’re working hard for everything that is happening in this team.”
“So for us to be in the top four, I think it’s a good thing, because it’s a good feeling, we work harded for it, so we have to go work hard and keep ourselves in that position, not to drop.”
