Mamelodi Sundowns’ Brazilian defender Ricardo Nascimento has sent out a warning to their rivals – the team is getting more confident with every game.
Sundowns are currently leading the DStv Premiership, and remain unbeaten in the league.
They have also qualified for the group stages of the CAF Champions League, after sailing through their tie against Jwaneng Galaxy from Botswana.
“I think we have a team that all helps in marking without the ball, that makes things easier for the defenders. At the end of the day, it is a team collective to defend and we have been doing that and it is our mission to make sure we continue,” Nascimento told the Sundowns website.
“With each game that passes our relationship gets better, he is a player with great potential,” Nascimento said about Brian Onyango, who has been teaming up with in central defence.
The Kenyan international joined Sundowns at the start of the season.
Nascimento, who has been wearing the captain’s armband in the absence of Hlompho Kekana, feels the team is getting better game-by-game.
“With every game that passes, I feel that the team is more confident, the victories bring confidence and for us, it is to go out there and play well for the club and the supporters who are at home and can’t be at the stadium”.
