Ncikazi: God Was On Our Side

Golden Arrows coach Mandla Ncikazi registered his first win as the mentor of Abafana besthende as his side conquered SuperSport United 3-1 in the DStv Premiership.

By Ncikazi’s own admission, SuperSport could have won the game through the opportunities they missed, but it was Arrows who took a two-goal lead in the game within the first hour via goals from Matome Mathiane and Velemseni Ndwande.

Matsatsantsa pulled a goal back late in the game through Bafana Bafana Star Teboho Mokoena, however, any hopes of a comeback were killed by Ntsako Makhubela’s added time strike to hand Ncikazi his first win.

Reacting to the victory, the Arrows coach said, “We struggled in the beginning of the match but the boys adapted. It was not an easy match, SuperSport United created chances. Very close match which could have been won by SuperSport, but still proud. God was on our side today.”

Arrows have accumulated four points from their opening two matches, while Kaitano Tembo’s boys have a win and a loss from both their league games.

SuperSport will have to pick themselves up in time for their weekend semi-final in the MTN 8. SuperSport face Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday in the first leg at 3pm.
