Cape Town City midfielder Thabo Nodada is excited to be part of the DStv Compact Cup which kicks off at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

Nodada will be part of the Coastal United team, coached by Steve Barker. They will take on Dinaledi in Saturday’s semi-finals.

The City midfielder is actually suspended when competitive football resumes next month, so he says he is grateful for this chance to play in January.

“I’m pretty excited,” Nodada told the club’s media department.

“I’m on a red card, as quite a lot of people know and it’s gonna be a while since I get back on the pitch and play so to be given an opportunity to play now in January is amazing.

Nodada adds that he’s looking forward to play with some of the other players for the first, especially Stellenbosch star Ashley Du Preez.

“I’m looking forward to play with Du Preez, the striker from Stellenbosch,” he said.

“I think he’s a really good player I think he’s very quick and I’m very excited to be pinning balls in behind for him to chase.

Nodada thanked the fans for voting for him, and says that considering he was out for some time, it’s a big confidence boost, and he won’t let them down.

“I’d really like to say thank you,” he concluded.

“I don’t think I’ve done my best over the past six months, with injuries and all sorts of things, but for them to still choose me over players who were eligible throughout the time is really a confidence booster and I hope I don’t let them down, in fact, I know I won’t let them down.”
