Chippa United have announced the signing of former Free State Stars and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Luyolo Nomandela.
Nomandela has been playing for newly-formed BCM Stars in the ABC Motsepe League in the Eastern Cape of late.
The 31-year-old has two caps for Bafana Bafana, and scored on debut for his country in 2012.
Having started his career in the Eastern Cape at Bush Bucks and FC Buffalo, Nomandela first made an impression at now defunct Carara Kicks, before joining Ea Lla Koto.
His performances in Bethlehem earned him a move to Sundowns, but he never quite made an impression at Chloorkop and had loan spells at Moroka Swallows and Jomo Cosmos.
He attempted to revive his career in 2016/2017 at Cape Town City, but it was short-lived, and he returned to the Eastern Cape, first at Mthatha Bucks, then Tornado in the Motsepe Leagues.
Two seasons ago he returned to Gauteng and played for Baberwa FC.
“We are pleased to have beefed up our squad with another player of talent and experience,” interim coach Siyabulela Gwambi said via a statement from the club.
Luyolo will also play an integral role in our squad for the remainder of the 2020/21 South African football campaign.”
