Notoane – A Good Draw If I Look At The Other Groups

South Africa Under-23 Head Coach David Notoane has reacted to the Tokyo Olympics draw, which has seen his team drawn in Group A alongside hosts Japan, Mexico and France.

They will play in the opening game of the tournament against the hosts on 21 July.

Notoane says it’s a tough group, but all four are, and he is happy to be based in Tokyo.

“Ja, we now know the identity of our opponents finally,” Notoane told SAFA media.

“Ooh, ja, tough draw, but I think a good draw, if I look at the other groups.”

“So I think it’s a group in which with with good preparation, with good application, we can get out of and go to the knockout stage.”

“So as I look at it, one is very, very happy with how the draw came up. And we look forward to taking to Tokyo Stadium, which is also a plus, to be playing at the Tokyo Stadium, which is where the base of the Olympics actually will be.”

“So we are happy to be based in Tokyo at this point in time, so ja, very excited with a draw. And looking forward to now have a focus preparation, now that we know who the opponents are.”
