Nurkovic Breaks Silence On Chiefs Return

Having been out since September last year, Kaizer Chiefs forward Samir Nurkovic is thrilled to be back in training and says he’ll soon be back to his best after a frustrating spell on the sidelines.

The Serbian made just four appearances this season before he was sidelined with a knee injury that required an operation and extensive rehab, but has returned to training with the team last month.

The 29-year-old is pleased to be back and be in contention for Saturday’s Nedbank Cup game against TS Galaxy.

“Really happy to be back finally with the boys on the field,” Nurkovic told the Chiefs’ media department.

“We’re working hard preparing for the next match, Nedbank Cup, ja, I think we are ready.”

Nurkovic is not 100% yet, but says he is working hard to get back to full fitness.

“Still working hard,” he continued.

“I mean to get in the best possible shape and where I have used to be, and requiring a lot of work but ja, I will be there soon.”

Nurkovic also says it was frustrating watching from the sidelines, and says he missed the beautiful game.

“Like I said, [I’m] really happy to be finally back,” he added.

“It was I’d say painful watching all these games from the sidelines, on the TV, and really miss supporters on the field and all that stuff.

“So me, I can’t wait to be back, can’t wait to have our faithful Amakhosi family back on the field, on the stands and everything will be alright.”
