Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic says it feels fantastic to be back on the field after a long period on the sidelines.
Nurkovic returned to the Amakhosi side and has immediately made an impact in the team, as Chiefs picked up consecutive wins over AmaZulu and Cape Town City in the DStv Premiership.
“It felt fantastic to be back on the field after a long time, after a surgery and four months of recovery sessions and all that,” Nurkovic told Chiefs media.
“Ja, finally back on the field and I’m happy to be there actually and to help the guys.”
Nurkovic missed out on pre-season training, but he is slowly getting back to full match fitness.
“The doctors and technical team have helped me with that, in that process of four months of recovery. So two months ago, it was just some easy sessions, after that with physios and all that stuff, we were preparing myself so that once I got back on the field I could give 100%”
In his first start last week against AmaZulu, the Serbian got himself on the scoresheet.
“Like I said a million times, my job is to be up front and score goals. And thank God I scored that goal in my first game after a long time, and the feeling was unbelievable. I am happy that I made my contribution to the victory.”
Chiefs host Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila tomorrow and the Serbian striker wants to build on the momentum of their two consecutive away wins.
“We not giving up on anything, and we have have to use this momentum to keep going forward, one game at time, and we have to give our best in every game to achieve what we want.”
