Nurkovic Happy To Be On Scoresheet

After getting his first DStv Premiership goal of the season in their 3-1 win over Chippa United, Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic wants to build on the performance.

Third-placed Chiefs beat Chippa at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, to maintain their challenge for a CAF Champions League qualifying spot.

Nurkovic, who has had a tough year with injuries, says things went well against Chippa, and he is hoping the team can continue with those kind of performances going forward.

“Obviously, the team was well prepared for that game. And we did everything as we planned before the game, before match and preparation for the game, everything went well,” Nurkovic told the club’s media department.

“So I’m also really happy to be once again on the scoresheet, back on the scoresheet, and we just have to continue with this fighting spirit and with this kind of performance and everything will be fine for us.

Nurkovic not only scored, but had a number of other opportunities and he said he is starting to fina

“First of all, we have to be realistic,  I’ve been through some challenging times after surgery,” he continued

“But I was working hard on my physique and on my mental state, and I think the things are coming back on the right place once again and I just want every game to do my best and to be back on my best to help the team in the best possible way.”

The striker also can’t wait for later this month when the supporters will return to the stands.

“I personally can’t wait to have supporters, Amakhosi family back on the stands because like they always like our 12th player, and the extra motivation for us on the field,” Nurkovic added.

“As soon as we get them back on the stands things will be much better for us.”
