Kaizer Chiefs have officially signed 15-year-old midfielder sensation Mfundo ‘Obrigado’ Vilakazi after his impressive displays at the recent Philly’s Games.
Turning out for Doornkop Students, Vilakazi now becomes the fourth player from the youthful squad to earn moves to DStv Diski Challenge squads.
Vilakazi was part of the Chiefs development U17s but with no professional contract signed he was technically a free agent at the end of the season.
However, Doornkop confirmed in an official statement that the teenager has now signed for Chiefs where he will join up with their Diski Challenge squad with immediate effect.
“We have had to wait till today for formalities to be concluded before making an announcement. Mfundo will join Kaizer Chiefs DDC team, the contract was signed and sealed today by his parents,” the statement read.
“Thanks to Phillys Games and DSTV for the exposure and opportunities it has presented to the boys, congratulations Mfundo on finally clinching a contract after the magical performance you displayed for Doornkop Students at the Games. Well done Obrigado and all the best.”
