Cape Town City have confirmed the signing of Gambian winger Kajally Drammeh.
iDiski Times reported last week that the club was on the verge of signing the teenager from The Gambia, but were awaiting his arrival in South Africa.
Now the club have confirmed his arrival, joining Brice Ambina, Mo May and Darwin Gonzalez as the club’s new signings.
They recently departed with Surprise Ralani, Fagrie Lakay, Abbubaker Mobara, Abdul Ajagun and Edmilson Dove.
Drammeh was one of the standout players for The Gambia at last year’s CAF under-20 Cup of Nations.
“Kajally Drammeh, a young attacking player that we scouted from Gambia, someone we’ve been chasing since the beginning of the season that we only managed now to really conclude the deal,” Eric Tinkler said about the player.
“We’ve obviously been watching him every single week playing in Gambia in the Gambian league. Young, he’s 18 years old, but shows a level of maturity that is more than capable of already playing at the highest level.
“There was a lot of interest in Europe in him, and I think we managed to snap up a very talented young player before he made that move.
“Like I said, very creative player, intelligent footballer, can play wide, can play as a 10. So someone I believe is going to have a very, very bright future.”
City resume action in 2022 on Saturday when they face Royal AM in the Nedbank Cup round of 32.
