Official: Thobejane Back At Baroka
Former Baroka FC senior team head coach Kgoloko Thobejane is back in the team fold, but as the coach of the DSTV Diski Challenge (DDC) side.
This was confirmed to iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago by cub chairman Khurishi Mphahlele.
The two parties held at meeting on Monday that was followed by Thobejane signing a yearlong contract with Bakgaga.
“We held a meeting with him yesterday (Monday) and today he came and signed a contract. It’s all systems go and he is starting tomorrow. We have actually signed him for next season but he must start now to prepare. His contract will be a year on year basis,” Mphahlele told iDiski Times.
Thobejane was dismissed for allegedly drinking on the job in 2018 an issue that reportedly dragged all the way to the CCMA. The club boss says discipline will be important in their new agreement with Thobejane.
“Discipline is important and if there is misconduct again we will take the same route again, we will never change. We live with this man and we could see he was suffering, he is with us all the time and if we have space why not. We worked well with him previously. He just misbehaved so he needs a little bit of discipline.”
Mphahlele says Thobejane is happy to be back in the team and they are happy to give him a restart. Thobejane’s mandate according to the chairman is to develop and promote at least two players to the senior team per year.
“We want more Makgopas, Moseles, Kutumelas, Motupas we want those boys. I don’t want my team to be filled with old people. We want youngsters to come and play. It’s his mandate that every year he must at least promote one or two players to the senior team” concluded Mphahlele.
Baroka are currently third from bottom on the DDC Stream 2 log with seven points from as many matches.
