Official: City Confirm Olde Riekerink Exit
Cape Town City have confirmed that Jan Olde Riekerink, who had been placed on administrative leave last month, has now left the club officially.
The Dutch coach had joined City in the 2019/2020 season, having replacing Benni McCarthy as Head Coach.
However despite taking City into the top eight, the club had mixed results in 2021, and following successive defeats to AmaZulu and TS Galaxy, he was placed on leave, with Diogo Peral taking over in the interim.
However today City announced that Olde Riekerink and the club have come to a mutual agreement, and the coach will be heading back home to Europe.
Dutch goalkeeper coach Sjoerd Woudenberg has also left the club, while their goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh is heading to FC Groningen when this season is over. Giannis Potouridis is also heading back to Europe after it was announced he and the club had mutually parted ways earlier today.
