Mamelodi Sundowns defender Brian Onyango was pleased to start the CAF Champions League Group Stages with three points.
Sundowns battled to a 1-0 win over Al Hilal of Sudan on Friday, with Themba Zwane grabbing the only goal.
While it wasn’t their best performance, Onyango says they wanted to start the group stages with three points and he was happy they were able to do that.
“It’s the first game of the Champions League, we wanted to start on a high note and get three points, and we did it,” Onyango told the club’s website.
“We prepared for them in training, and the coaches told us that we must be ready to jump, and that’s what we expected from them and we did well as the backline.
“We are all leaders at the back, and that’s what kept us going.”
