Pirates & AmaZulu Line-Ups Announced
Josef Zinnbauer and Benni McCarthy have named their starting line-ups for today’s DStv Premiership game between Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu.
While the race to win the league is over for both teams following Mamelodi Sundowns defending their title, the fight is on for second place still, although Usuthu are in the driving seat.
Victory for McCarthy’s team team will confirm that, as they’d move to 53 points, giving neither Pirates or Arrows a chance to catch up with them.
Should Pirates win though, it could just open the door for Zinnbauer’s team, who have a game in hand over AmaZulu. But they would still need the KZN team to slip up again in their remaining two matches after today.
So while the league title race is over, a lot remains at stake at the Orlando Stadium.
Two years ago when McCarthy was at Cape Town City, he and City held Pirates to a 2-2 draw, a result that effectively saw Pirates’ title hopes come to an end.
But that result also meant that City couldn’t finish second. McCarthy’s best finish with a club prior to this season was fourth, so this could be his best finish in a season.
Here’s how the teams line-up:
Orlando Pirates: Mpontshane, Maela, Nyauza, Mako, Ndlovu, Zungu, Monare, Motshwari, Mhango, Lorch, Hotto
AmaZulu: Mothwa, Sikhakhane, Kewuti, Xoki, Gumede, Makhaula, Sithebe, Maduna, Mulenga, Qalinge, Majoro
