Pirates Give Mosele Update

Orlando Pirates have finally given a brief update on Goodman Mosele after he hasn’t been in the squad over the last few weeks.

The 22-year-old famously snubbed a Bafana Bafana call-up earlier in the campaign but had returned to Pirates afterwards, with co-caretaker coach Mandla Ncikazi insisting the player has the club’s full support.

However, following an appearance in the CAF Confederations against Diables Noirs, Mosele has not featured since 24 October for the club, with little know about his whereabouts.

The club now confirmed that Mosele is one of three players on the “comeback trial” – along with Vincent Pule and Happy Jele – without stating how close any of them are to taking to the field.

“Several players remain on the comeback trail, with the likes of Vincent Pule, Captain Happy Jele and Goodman Mosele all in different stages of rehabilitation,” the club said on Friday.

Mosele was named DStv Premiership Player of the Season in 2020/21, which earned him a move from Baroka to the Buccaneers.

He started his life at Orlando Stadium well, scoring two goals in his first six league appearances before his ordeal around his Bafana call-up.

It remains to be seen how soon he can return to the squad and whether he can shake off his off-pitch struggles.

The Buccaneers face TS Galaxy in their next DStv Premiership fixture on Saturday.
