Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has made the final Nigeria squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
Nwabali, 27, has had an outstanding campaign so far and Nigeria coach Jose Peseiro recently visited him at the Chilli Boys.
Following seven clean sheets in the DStv Premiership this campaign so far – with only Ronwen Williams having more – Nwabali’s form earned him interest for a big move and now a spot at the tournament in Ivory Coast.
Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah, who was part of the Super Eagles’ AFCON squad in 2022 didn’t make the cut after not being selected since that tournament in Cameroon and despite a late resurgence back to form for the Buccaneers.
Nigeria are stacked in attack, with African Footballer of the Year, Victor Osimhen the standout man alongside the likes of Victor Boniface and Kelechi Iheanacho.
The three-time AFCON winners were drawn in Group A alongside Ivory Coast, Guinea Bissau and Equatorial Guinea.
