Ahead of Kaizer Chiefs’ match against Swallows FC, defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele says he is happy to be back on the field and ready to give his best to help the club.
Mphahlele, though, knowing that it will be a difficult match, says they will build from the midweek 1-1 draw at home with AmaZulu in the DStv Premiership.
The 31-year-old has only featured in two games this season, and he hopes that his experience can turn things around at the club going forward.
“It’s good to be back playing and feels good to come in and help the team when you are needed, so yeah it’s a work in progress,” Mphahlele told the club’s media department.
“We’ve been working hard as a team, and hopefully, we get full maximum results next game, it’s good to play, no matter which position I play, I think I’m experienced enough to handle the pressure.
“So, we just have to build from the last game and, and try to get maximum points in the next game.”
While targeting maximum points away from home, ‘Rama’ as he is affectionately known, says they will not undermine Swallows despite their position in the league table.
“Look I have seen teams at the bottom of the league beat teams that are number one or number two, so we just have to focus on ourselves, game plan and treat them with respect, they’re still a very good team, they can hit you at any given day.
“Also, you know when teams play against the Kaizer Chiefs, they tend to just revive themselves and play well, so we cannot take any team for granted. The minute we start looking at teams and their position, that’s going to be a downfall of us.
“We just have to work on ourselves to prepare well for a game, and that’s for the coaches, technically and tactically. So, we just have to go in and try to get maximum points again Swallows, like I said, a very good team that we cannot afford to take for granted.”
The Glamour Boys will just turn the corner to visit the Birds at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday (15h30).
