Orlando Pirates forward Relebohile Mofokeng has thrown his weight behind teammate Oswin Appollis, labelling him as the ‘best player in the PSL’.
This comes after Appollis recorded his name on the scoresheet, profiting from Mofokeng’s assist, and was voted the man of the match on the afternoon, his fourth individual accolade this season.
The Buccaneers picked up an emphatic 3-0 hammering of AmaZulu at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday to reclaim Betway Premiership top spot.
Pirates broke the deadlock with just 14 minutes played as Tshepang Moremi set up Yanela Mbuthuma who headed home from inside the box.
Late in the first half, Appollis popped up on the left before coming in on the right for a well-placed shot to make it 2-0.
In-form Mofokeng made it 3-0 in the 58th minute with a first-time audacious shot from a long way out.
The win also extended their unbeaten streak in the league to eight matches, going two points clear at the top of the log, with 58 points.
Mofokeng took to his Instagram story on Saturday with the caption, accompanied by an image of both players:
“Best player in the PSL @oswinappollis.”

Appollis reached 20 goal contributions (11 goals, 9 assists) on Saturday, a dream start to his Pirates career while Rele notched up 11 goals and provided eight assists (a 19-goal contribution) so far this campaign.
The duo are now preparing for the upcoming Soweto Derby against rivals Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday, 26 April.
