Kaizer Chiefs have not appeared for a second game, while Golden Arrows and the match officials were present, SAFA’s Head of Referees Abdul Ebrahim has confirmed to iDiski Times, also explaining what will happen next.
There was still no official communication from the Premier Soccer League, meaning Arrows and the referees were present at the Princess Magogo Stadium last night, while Chiefs were not.
The Glamour Boys had released a statement that they won’t be able to travel to Durban for the match after 36 members of their staff were tested positive for Covid-19.
As a consequence, Arrows were the only team present and the matter will now have to be handed over to the PSL DC, as Ebrahim confirmed after being in touch with the match officials on the night.
“All they said was that the away team was not there,” he told iDiski Times exclusively.
“Basically it was exactly the same as on Saturday, the only difference was that this time Kaizer Chiefs were the away team.
“So the stadium was open, the home team was there, everything was ready for the match. So it’s just a matter of the other team arriving.”
Ebrahim also discussed what will happen next, with the match officials set to sent their report to him.
“Unless we receive official correspondence, the fixture goes ahead as per normal,” he added.
“Match officials would do what they normally would do for any fixture.
“Now, obviously the match commissioner and the referee will submit their report, which will come to my office and then sent to the Premier Soccer League as well.
“Now it’s in the hands of the Premier Soccer League and they need to do what they must do.”
It is the second game that Chiefs didn’t honor after similar scenes happened for their home fixture against Cape Town City when only the visitors and the match officials arrived at a locked FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The PSL are yet to comment on the situation.
