Richards Bay Announce Freese
Allan Freese will get a second shot at promotion to the DStv Premiership after moving over from Free State Stars to Richards Bay, just ahead of the start of the promotion/relegation play-offs.
Freese had joined Ea Lla Koto in December, and turned things around at the Bethlehem club, as he lead them to a respectable fifth-placed finish.
He will now succeed Simo Dladla, who was let go by Richards Bay with two games to go in the regulation season. Dladla has since been snapped up as an assistant for Brandon Truter at Swallows.
It has been a rollercoaster year for Freese, who this time last year was an assistant to Owen Da Gama at Highlands Park. A few months later he found himself unemployed as TS Galaxy bought the Highlands franchise.
But he was roped in to assist Ayanda Dlamini at AmaZulu at the start of the new season, but that unfortunately didn’t last long as he was sidelined when Usuthu brought in Benni McCarthy.
Freese didn’t hang around in Durban, and instead took the Stars job, who were bottom of the table after five games when he was appointed.
He now joins Richards Bay, as does former Uthongathi head coach Pitso Dladla, who will serve as his assistant.
In other playoff-related news, iDiski Times has learnt that promising young coach Sinethemba Badela, who was an assistant at Cape Town All Stars this season, has moved to Gqeberha to assist Lehlohonolo Seema at Chippa United.
