Team news is in for this evening’s Nedbank Cup match between Richards Bay and Mamelodi Sundowns.
This is the first-ever meeting between the two teams in history and GladAfrica Championship leaders Bay will be attempting to upset another big club in South Africa after they knocked out Kaizer Chiefs in the 2021 Nedbank Cup last 32 after a home 2-1 win.
The KwaZulu-Natal outfits were knocked out in the quarterfinals in last year’s campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Chippa United at Sisa Dukashe Stadium.
But Masandawana will be looking to keep their great record when playing lower division sides—having won all 15 matches they have played against lower tier opposition since 2008.
The DStv Premiership leaders brought in Surprise Ralani, Teboho Mokoena and Erwin Saavedra in the January transfer window, and Ralani starts, while Mokoena is on the bench.
The two teams, who are also the log leaders in their respective leagues, will lock horns at the Princess Magogo Stadium this evening at 18:00.
