Royal AM Book Nebank Cup Semi-Final Spot In Five Goal Thriller

Royal AM came from two goals down against AmaTuks to secure a dramatic 3-2 victory in stoppage-time to advance to the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.

The KZN-based outfit came into the game as overwhelming favourites as they lay second in the DStv Premiership with only one defeat at home all season.

Up against the GladAfrica Championship side, they were shocked by Tuks who came out with real vigour and were rewarded with a brace from Wonderboy Mkhubu who scored in the 19th and 27th minutes.

But John Maduka’s side’s never-say-die attitude shone through as Victor Letsoalo’s brace, the first from the spot just before the hour mark, then a snapshot in the 78th minute turned the game on its head.

With the game looking to be heading to extra-time; Mfundo Thikazi secured a dramatic late winner in the 93rd minute to advance to the last four alongside TTM, Marumo Gallants and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Royal AM XI: Nyame; Lingwati, Kobedi, Nascimento, Mkhize, Matlaba, Mashikinya, Mahlasela, Mabena, Letsoalo, Machupu.

AmaTuks XI: Msibi; Allan, Maqoko, Moeketsi, Mpedi, Julies, Mvambi, Barns, Chokoe, Makhubu, Pheeane.
