SAFA Release Outcomes From Referees Review Committee

SAFA have released outcomes from the Referees Review Committee, with a number of officials being suspended for incorrect decisions.

It was recommended that Jelly Chavani be suspended for four weeks for making an incorrect decision in denying Orlando Pirates a penalty in their match against Swallows on 10 January.

Sera Motebang had a goal incorrectly disallowed for off-side in the Mamelodi Sundowns Bloemfontein Celtic game on the 19th of January, and because of that decision, Assistant Referee Andile Mncwango’s recommendation is for 16 weeks out, and Referee Thokozani be suspended for 4 weeks.

Meanwhile TTM’s Aluwani Nedzamba’s deliberate lunge on Bernard Parker in their match against Kaizer Chiefs on 19 January, which was not punished, was referred to the PSL for possible further disciplinary action.

Assistant Referee Shaun Olive was ruled to have made an incorrect off-side call in the Orlando Pirates v Golden Arrows, however it was deemed to not be a ‘game-changing’ one.

While six other games were reviewed, the Committee found in those game the officials had made the right calls.

Those matches were SuperSport v AmaZulu, Swallows v Chippa United, Sundowns v Swallows, Stellenbosch v Chiefs, Maritzburg United v Pirates and Cape Town City v Arrows.
